Name the A4232 Ffordd Owain Glyndŵr

We, the undersigned, call upon the Welsh Government to officially name the currently unnamed A4232 Link Road to Cardiff Bay after Owain Glyndŵr — one of the most significant figures in Welsh history.

Owain ap Gruffudd, known to history as Owain Glyndŵr, was a visionary leader, soldier, and statesman. He led the last major Welsh revolt against English rule with the goal of reclaiming Welsh sovereignty, established the first Welsh Parliament under his leadership, and was the last native-born Welshman to claim the title Prince of Wales.

As the architect of Welsh democracy, Owain Glyndŵr’s legacy continues to inspire the ongoing journey toward greater self-determination for Wales.

Naming this key road — the main route to Cardiff Bay, home of the Senedd and the heart of our modern democracy — would be a fitting tribute to his vision and enduring impact on our nation.

This symbolic act would not only honour a national hero but also serve as a reminder that Wales’s journey towards true democracy is ongoing. We therefore urge the Welsh Government to name the A4232 Link Road “Ffordd Owain Glyndŵr.”
