Everest Bar & Eatery is a family-run business set up by Dip Prasad Pun and Jhalak Pun. The brothers, who originally hail from Nepal, are both former Gurkhas and long-standing members of the veteran community. Their vision is to open a dedicated veterans’ bar in Cardiff city centre — a welcoming place where military and public service veterans can meet, eat, talk and support one another.

We are asking for your support to change Everest Bar & Eatery to Everest Bar and to secure the correct licence from Cardiff Council.

With the closure of the United Services Mess (USM), which had served Cardiff and the wider Welsh community since 1906, there is now a real gap in the city for veterans and those who have served the public. The USM welcomed not only military personnel but also NHS staff, police officers, civil servants, doctors, solicitors and many others dedicated to public service. Everest Bar aims to help fill that gap.

This isn’t just about opening another bar — it’s about creating a safe, supportive and friendly space for veterans across Cardiff and Wales. Many veterans face challenges after service, and having a central place to connect with others who understand their experiences can make a real difference.

We, the undersigned, support Everest Bar & Eatery, Unit 8, The Friary, CF10 3FA, being granted permission to operate as a Pub/Bar at these premises.
